Can You Take Nicotine Pouches on a Plane in Europe?

It's one of the questions we get most, usually a day before someone's flight: can I bring my pouches, and can I use them on the plane?
Security checks
Nicotine pouches are dry, solid products. They aren't liquids, so they don't need to go in the clear 100 ml bag. In practice most travellers just leave them in a pocket or backpack and walk through security without anyone asking.
Hand luggage or checked bag?
Both are normally fine. A good habit is to keep one or two cans in your carry-on for the trip itself and pack the rest in your suitcase.
Using pouches on board
Smoking and vaping are banned on every European flight. Pouches don't produce smoke or vapour, so many passengers use them without issues. That said, rules are set by each airline, so if you want to be 100% sure, check your carrier's policy before you fly. A few tips:
- Be discreet
- Put used pouches in the lid compartment, never in the seat pocket
- Don't leave them on the tray table
Entering countries outside the EU
Some countries restrict or ban nicotine pouches entirely. If you're flying beyond the EU, look up the destination's rules before you pack.
Skip airport prices
Airport shops are about the most expensive place to buy pouches. Order a 10-pack for €14.99 a week before you travel and you'll be stocked for the whole trip.
